The Pushkin Fine Arts Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery will simultaneously host exhibitions of Frida Kahlo and her husband.
"The first exhibition will be associated with one of Mexico's major cultural trends, Frida Kahlo, but not in her traditional relation to Diego Rivera. We decided to separate them and came up with the theme The Day of Death, referring to the Mexican festival Day of the Dead and Frida Kahlo will be the focus of this subject matter"- the director of the Pushkin Museum, Marina Loshak explained.
At the same time the Tretyakov Gallery will host an exhibition of Mexican muralistov, Diego Rivera among them. The exhibition will present large-scale sketches for frescoes and fragments of frescoes, thus providing a good chance to compare works by Diego Rivera and other Mexican artists to what the Soviet muralists created in the 1920s - 1930s.
The Pushkin Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery have not specified particular dates of the exhibitions yet.
