They have found that under the influence of magnetic field the nanoparticles freely floating in liquid are structured so that the fluid is magnetized and particles working as tiny magnets stick to each other.
Magnetic particles coated with medicines can deliver them to a particular organ or system that requires medical treatment.
"The effects of magnetic fluids lie in their unique characteristic that makes them so useful in medicine. Particles can accumulate at the site of the magnetic field's maximum intensity and follow it, thus they can be sent to any part of the body" - the media center of the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University reports.
