Trivandrum, the capital city of the South Indian state of Kerala hosted the international festival organized jointly with the Russian Cultural Center, the Russian World Foundation and the Pushkin Russian Language Center.
The festival was inaugurated by famous poet Dr. Krishnan Nair Jayakumar, a former chief secretary of the state government of Kerala and the present-day Vice-Chancellor of the Malayalam University.
"Efforts to promote the Russian language and literature in the long run will contribute to the strengthening of multilateral relations between the two countries. Both Russia and India have the traditions, history and culture, which can make people closer to each other. "
Russian language teachers, writers, senior government officials, representatives of the Orthodox Church of Kerala (Malankara), journalists, and others took part in the celebrations.
The festival consisted of a series of seminars, competitions, screenings of Russian films, etc.
