Rostov Scientists Win Grant for Nanoparticle Research in France

Scientists from South Federal University in Rostov have won a grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RF.

It is intended for carrying out nanoparticle research works in France. Experts will further develop their project on the basis of a special laboratory in Grenoble, France.

According to the associate professor of nanotechnologies of SFU, Igor Leontyev, the studies are financed equally by the Government of the Russian Federation and France. The know-how of the Russian scientists makes it possible to visualize nanoparticles in special powder-like substance. Earlier it was impossible to see nanoparticles without special equipment.

The Russian delegation will continue research by means of the Grenoble synchrotron. The device disperses electrons into special rings, the biggest of them reaching one kilometer in diameter. The equipment enables scientists to take a clear picture of nanoparticles. There are only three of such installations in the world.
