The law allows using cultured patient cells for treatment.
The law "On Biomedical Cell Procedures" was signed by the President of Russia on June 23 and came into force on January 1, 2017. According thereto, the country's medical institutions are authorized to use the patient's own cells grown in vitro.
It is noted that the method makes it possible to use patient tissues' samples retrieved with biopsy for getting "biomedical cell product". Experts point out that the technology is more effective than transplantation, since it virtually eliminates the risk of rejection.
