A group of scientists from Russia will engineer new space platform EgyptSat-A to replace broken EgyptSat-2.
The estimated date of launching the Russian satellite is scheduled for 2019. The head of the Science Foundation of Russia informs that development of EgyptSat-A has already been started. The Egyptian government plans to launch the satellite in 2019. The unit should replace the space platform EgyptSat-2, which ceased to respond to commands two years ago.
The Russin Space Corporation "Energia" plans to spend no more than $ 100 thousand on production of the satellite. EgyptSat-A is equipped with an advanced optical system technology. Experts have also improved its onboard computer and equipped the spacecraft with powerful solar panels. Scientists from Russia plan to set new X-band transmitters into EgyptSat-A.
It is a reminder that the first Egyptian and Russian joint satellite was launched into space in 2007. Three years later, the satellite stopped responding to signals. In 2014 the space platform EgyptSat-2 was launched.
