Sensational historical drama "The Viking" has become the first Russian film to hit Top 10 of global film distribution.
During the period from 5th to 8th January "The Viking" collected 6.7 million dollars, having outpaced "Ghostly Beauty" with Will Smith. The latter was released in 49 countries, whereas "The Viking" in 4 only (Russia and the Baltic states).
Among other leaders of the world's distribution of January 5 to 8 is "Cast Away 1: Star Wars Stories", "Assassin's Creed", "Passengers" and "The Great Wall".
The Viking set a box office record in the Russian film distribution, having collected 142 million rubles on December 29, the first day of its general release, and more than a billion rubles within the first nine days of its demonstration in cinemas. It tells about the history of Old Russia just before its Christianization. The main role of Prince Vladimir is played by Danila Kozlovsky.
