From 19 to 29 January Russian circus performers are competing in Monaco for the highest international circus award.
According to Edgard Zapashny, the director of the Bolshoi Moscow State Circus, a group of 60 Russian artists are in Monte Carlo. This is the largest group of the festival participants.
Russian artists will present a few turns at the festival: Acrobats on Track, Teeter Boards and Among the Predators. Russia is also represented with a female acrobatic group on counter-swing, contortionist Alexander Batuev and circus ballet.
International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo is held in mid-January every year. The event is patronized by Prince Albert II and Princess Stephanie of Monaco, who are heading the jury.
