Experts of the Geology and Mineralogy Institute of the Novosibirsk State University have studied rare yellow diamonds that are found in Yakutia.
The scientists unanimously state that the unusual diamonds were generated from organic matter, in particular the remains of ancient animals who lived on the planet many centuries ago.
According to experts, organic were also the medieval oceanic platorms, which started to go deep into the Earth as a result of massive collision of continents. When immersing, the giant slabs produced high heat and pressure, which transormed animals' remains. Thousands of years later, they crystallized into yellow diamonds at the depth of 150-250 km.
Rare yellow diamonds are in great demand among elite jewellers. The price of such a diamond depends on the saturation of yellow and may reach hundreds of thousand dollars per carat.
