The Exports Of Gold From Russia Fell By 43 Percent

The exports of gold from Russia fell by 43 percent - from 39.4 to 22.4 tons in 2016, as “Interfax” reports with a reference to the data of the Assay Chamber. At the same time the level of production slightly increased last year, as compared with 2015 (the forecast makes up 295-297 tons versus 289.5 tons).

Thus, if about 14 percent of all gold produced in Russia was exported in 2015, the share of exports dropped to 7.6 percent last year. The main buyer of gold on the domestic market has traditionally been the Central Bank.
