Head of Ancient Greek Statue Found under Crimean Bridge

The terracotta head of an ancient Greek god has been found during underwater excavations on the construction site of the Crimean Bridge.

This find is unique for the Northern Black Sea Coast. Presumably, the sculpture was made in Asia Minor in the 5th century BC.

The terracotta head will replenish the exhibition "Crimean Bridge. Fantastic Reality".

Earlier, more than 60 thousand finds were salvaged from the bottom near the Cape of Ak-Burun. These are mostly large fragments of ceramic vessels made in the Mediterranean and Asia Minor.

The bridge across the Kerch Strait willl connect the Crimea with the Krasnodar Territory. With the total length of 19 kilometers, it will be the longest bridge in Russia.
