Paleoseismologists recommend to take into account the research results in the construction.
The scientists of the Oil and Gas Geology and Geophysics Institute and the Novosibirsk State University have found traces of three powerful ancient earthquakes on the northern border of the Chuysky Range in the Republic of Altai. The earthquakes occurred at an interval of 2-2.5 thousand years. Paleoseismologists suggest taking this into consideration when building the Siberia-2 gas pipeline, which should pass just about 1 km away from this place, the NSU press service reported. "The earthquakes occurred about 5500, 3400-3100 and 1300 years ago. We have managed to assess the magnitude and intensity of the two later events, which made 9-10 points, and possibly even higher" - the Senior Researcher of the Oil and Gas Geology Institute, paleoseismologist Yevgenia Deyeva informs.
