Russia and Syria Will Make Joint Film

Russian company Proline Media LLC and Syrian "Shaghaf" will start shooting a film about Palmyra at the end of 2017.

The film coproduction agreement was signed on April 17. The ceremony was attended by the RF Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad, the famous Syrian actress and the film producer Sulaf Fawakerjee, the film director and script writer Ivan Bolotnikov, and others.

Along with Russia and Syria, the project will be attended by Lebanon, France and other countries, Interfax reports.

The main hero of the film is a doctor from Dagestan, whose wife takes their  little daughters away and flies to Syria.

It should be remembered that the city of Palmyra in Syria is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The ancient city was invaded by the terrorist organization ISIS in May 2015. It was first liberated in March 2016 and then repeatedly on March 2, 2017. According to the representatives of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Russia made a decisive contribution into defeating the militants in the area.
