Unknown Species of Extinct Mammals Discovered

Scientists from St. Petersburg and Tomsk State Universities have unearthed a fossilized tooth of an unknown mammal.

The discovery was made during an expedition near river Kemchug.

As follows from a publication in the scientific Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, the archeologists decided to name it "Baydabatyr". The scientists assume that Baydatabyr lived about 145 million years ago. This period was established due to the layer in which the tooth was found. After studying the structure of the tooth, the scientists made the conclusion that the previously unknown mammal was herbivorous.
