Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov intends to start shooting a film about the legendary rock music band Kino.
Filming will take place in St. Petersburg.
The filmmaker insists that the project he has conceived will not be a film about the band and its frontman Victor Tsoi, but a film about love, summer, rock-and-roll, freedom and music.
The Hype Film company is engaged in the making of the film. Ilya Stewart, Mikhail Finogenov and Murad Osman will be the producers. The film has been cowritten by Mikhail and Lilya Idova.
The film is planned to be released in the summer of 2018, and for now the director has announced casting for the main role in the film. The applicants should be from 20 to 26 years of age and have mastery in playing the guitar or piano.
