Volkswagen Plans to Assemble Audi Cars In Russia

“Volkswagen”  is considering plans on the assembly of the full cycle of Audi cars in Russia. This was told by the Head of Volkswagen Group RUS, Marcus Ozegovich, in his interview with the “Vedomosti” newspaper. He explained that Audi cars produced at the production facility in Kaluga by SKD method are not recognized as assembled in the Russian Federation. “Our Audi cars assembled in Kaluga no longer have certificates confirming that they are produced in Russia, because the rules have become very strict since the beginning of 2017, and we cannot sell them to governmental bodies — only to corporate and private customers” - he said.

At the same time, according to the top manager, VW is considering various options for resuming production of Audi cars and expects to conclude a special investment agreement with the government, as it was done by Daimler “concern”.
