Over a year, more than 4.1 million people visited the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
At the end of 2016, the Hermitage became the most visited museum in Russia and entered the world’s Top Ten. This was reported by The Art Newspaper portal.
Over a year the Hermitage was visited by more than 4.1 million people. The Russian Museum (Saint Petersburg) with 2.5 million visitors ranks second among the most popular museums in this country. These are followed by the Tretyakov Gallery, which was attended by 2.3 million people in 2016.
The attendance of the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery increased by over 1 million as compared to the previous year.
In the world ranking, the Hermitage Museum turned out to be the 9th. The Louvre is heading the list, with the audience of 7.4 million people. It is closely followed by the Metropolitan, the British Museum and the London National Gallery.
