Finalists of Big Book Award Announced

The short-list of Russia’s greatest literary award The Big Book has been announced in Moscow.


      


      

The short list includes nine writers:


      

Igor Malyshev, “Nomah”


      

Leo Danilkin, “Lenin. Pantocrator of Solar Dust”


      

Victor Pelevin, “Lamp of Methuselah, or Ultimate Battle of KGB with Masons”


      

Alexey Slapovsky, “Uncertainty”


      

Sergey Samsonov, “Falconry”


      

Shamil Idiatullin, “The City of Brezhnev”


      

Mikhail Gigolashvili, “The Last Year”


      

Sergey Shargunov, “Kataev: Chasing after an Eternal Spring”


      

Andrei Rubanov, “Patriot”


      

The award winners will become known before November 30.

      The Big Book is Russia’s largest national award and the world’s second largest literary award after the Nobel Prize in terms of its prize fund. The monetary amount of the first Big Book prize makes 3 million rubles, the second - 1.5 million, and the third - one million.
