Antwerp elebrated 300th Anniversary Since Peter the Great's Visit to Belgium

The exhibition Russian Samovars was organized in the Antwerp Town Hall, where you could taste Russian cuisine.

As part of the celebrations, an international chess tournament took place with a simultaneous game. The competition was held by the twelfth world chess champion, Anatoly Karpov from Russia.

Russian Ambassador to Belgium, Alexander Tokovinin, noted that the celebrations were held with the active participation and support of the city administration and Mayor, Bart de Vever.

Peter the Great visited Belgium in 1717 during his trip to Europe. Antwerp was the first city, which the Russian Tsar arrived at. His trip also covered Brussels, Liege and Spa, where Peter the Great was trained in crafts.
