Earlier, a deputy of the State Duma, Natalia Poklonskaya, demanded expertise of the new film about ballerina Mathilda Kschesinskaya and Nicholas II.
Experts of the St. Petersburg State University have not found extremism or wounding religious feelings in the historical drama by Alexei Uchitel.
Natalia Poklonskaya, a State Duma deputy, earlier demanded expertise of the film before even watching it. In her opinion, the film is offensive to the memory of Tsar Nicholas II, who was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in August 2000.
In the summer of 2016, the Prosecutor General's Office checked the historical film and found nothing illegal either.
The film is presently underway and will premiere at the Mariinsky Theater on October 25.
