Russian Satellite of Defense Ministry is Set into Target Orbit

The satellite named Cosmos-2519 will photograph space objects.

      The satellite of the Russian Ministry of Defense, launched on Friday from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome (Arkhangelsk Region) by the Soyuz-2.1v carrier rocket, has been placed into the target orbit. The device has been named Cosmos-2519 and put into operation, the press service of the military department said.

      "The spacecraft launched in the interests of the RF Ministry of Defense has been set into the target orbit at the estimated time and taken under control of ground aids of the Russian Aerospace Forces," the ministry reported.

      A stable telemetry connection with the satellite is being maintained, and its on-board systems are operating normally, the Defense Ministry noted.
