Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) is a famous Italian painter, one of the leading representatives of the 20th century avant-garde art, anticipating surrealism.
The project “Giorgio de Chirico. Metaphysical Insights” at the Tretyakov Gallery in Krymsky Val is his first exhibition of such a large scale in Russia.
The exposition covers all facets of the master's creativity: metaphysical and post-metaphysical paintings, paintings on antique subjects, and self-portraits... It gives an opportunity to comprehend the influence of Giorgio de Chirico on both European and Russian artists. The exhibition presents paintings, graphic art works, sculptures, and stage costumes for Sergei Diaghilev’s enterprise ballet, as well as photographs and archival materials.
The exhibition runs at the Tretyakov Gallery in Krymsky Val from April 20 to July 23.
