The Swiss museum dedicated to the well-known Alpine campaign of the great Russian commander Alexander Suvorov has scaled up its space from 300 to1200 sq m.
The opening ceremony of the updated exposition took place in the museum in the town of Lintal (Canton of Glarus) on Sunday. Representatives of the Russian Embassy in Switzerland and the authorities of Glarus participated in it.
Glarus became one of the stages of Suvorov’s army crossing the Alps, and events of 1799 still remain alive in memory here.
Suvorov Museum was founded here by historian Walter Geller 31 years ago. He had searched for bullets, kernels, bayonets and other artifacts with a metal detector.
With the help of his family and friends only, he founded an initially small exposition on 15 sq m. Over the years it grew up and was replenished with new exhibits.
The museum entrance has always been free.
