The price of a minimum food products pack in Russia rose by 9.4 percent - up to 4036 roubles - from January to May. This has been shown by the latest report of Federal Statistics Service. The fastest growth in prices was noted in April-May, amounting to 4.2 percent. The inflation for January-May reached 1.7 percent. Thus, the cost of consumer goods basket increases five times faster than the official inflation rate is rising.
A minimum food products pack in Moscow totaled 4945 roubles in May, with an 11.1 percent increase since the beginning of the year. In St. Petersburg, the growth in prices amounted to 9.8% - up to 4888 roubles - since the beginning of January.
