Arctic Floating University-2017 will study the origin history of the Franz Josef Archipelago with paleomagnetic method. This was reported by Konstantin Zaykov, the head of the expedition, which will be held from 8 to 28 July.
"Joint research of the Northern Arctic Federal University and the Novosibirsk State University focuses on the history of the origin of islands and archipelagos. They take rock samples and study their origin by means of the paleomagnetic methods: the data will not only help to understand the processes of island generation, but figure out where minerals can potentially be found" - the scientist explained.
