Mummy from Hermitage Taken to Clinical Hospital of St. Petersburg

Scientists want to establish the sex and age of the ancient person.


      

The Egyptian mummy from the Hermitage Museum was examined at the Sokolov Clinical Hospital in St. Petersburg. Scientists intend to establish the sex, age, structure of the skeleton and the possible cause of death of the ancient human.


      

Mummy was scanned on a spiral computer tomograph. The findings will be analyzed through forensic studies. The doctors hope that this will help to get more information about the exhibit. After the announcement of the results, the work is planned to be continued.


      

It was the first ever study of the kind conducted in St. Petersburg.


      

The mummy from the Hermitage is the only one preserved in its original form with thanatopraxy.
