The Federal Medical and Biological Agency is developing personalized drugs to fight cancer, the head of the institution, Vladimir Uiba said in an interview with TASS.
Some lymphocytes can selectively kill growing cancer cells, so they are typed and cultivated into a colony, which is then injected to the patient.
"By the way, we have created such a platform in parallel with the Americans; the difference is they have announced it and we have not. We have developed such a model on animals and in the same way gotten results”, - Vladimir Uiba said. He also noted that such personalized vaccines are effective in treating leukemia. In general, he added, the future belongs to personalized and targeted medicine, as well as brand new individualized approaches to prevention.
