An Improvised Dive Centre On the Bank Of the Lena River

An improvised dive centre on the bank of the Lena River has been arranged by a famous underwater photographer Olga Kamenskaya, cameraman Dmitry Melamed and instructor of the BaikalTek centre Tatiana Oparina. The crew together with the staff of the “Reserved Baikal Region” was studying and recording the underwater world of the longest river in Russia on the territory of the Baikal-Lena Reserve for five days.

As the crew acknowledged, this expedition has become a new and serious experience for them - they often dive to Baikal and have done this many times, but they dived to the Lena River for the first time. During the process they had to develop their own technology. Diving was also complicated by the weight of the necessary equipment - a weight of a diver made up a total of 110 kg. Despite all the obstacles, the participants managed to dive to a depth of 5 meters and make the first photo shots of the bottom of the Lena River.
