Baikal Hotels Will Have Ecological Rating

The ecological rating for the tourist centres and hotels located on the Baikal coast has been developed by the ecologists of Irkutsk and St. Petersburg.

The joint project of the “En + Group” Energy Holding and “The Friends of Baikal” Association was presented in Olkhonsky District of Irkutsk Oblast, this rating will be launched in a pilot mode at Baikal in October of this year. In addition to the rating evaluation, Baikal hotels will be able to receive expert advice for improving their ecological status. The availability of such an evaluation is becoming more and more popular not only among foreigners, but also among Russian tourists, as the authors of the project note. The “360 Minutes” Ecological Marathon was held at Lake Baikal last weekend for the seventh consecutive time. 36.7 thousand bags of garbage were taken out on 155 “Kamaz” trucks on Saturday, following the results of a large-scale clean-up of the coast of the lake and nearby rivers.
