Georgian Airways has received permission from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation to carry out direct regular flights between Tbilisi and Kazan starting from the spring of 2018.
Georgian Airways will start direct flights on the route Tbilisi - Kazan from March 26 (to December 31, 2018 inclusively) operating twice a week - on Mondays and Fridays.
Flights will be performed on Boeing 737 and Embraer 190 aircraft. The round trip ticket costs 195 Euro.
Georgian Airways is the only airline that operates direct scheduled flights from Georgia to Russia, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Russia and Georgia have announced the resumption of regular flights between the two countries since September 15, 2014. Based on the results of technical consultations between the aviation authorities of the two countries, Georgian airlines were granted the right to conduct regular flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Rostov and Kavminvod, and Russian ones to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi. According to the agreement existing between the parties, the frequency of flights between Tbilisi and Moscow is determined in the winter navigation season for 18 flights per week on each side, in the summer navigation season - for 21 flights. As for the frequency of flights between other cities, in this case the number of flights is not limited, as it was before the termination of regular air service between Georgia and Russia. Regular air communication between Russia and Georgia was interrupted in August 2008. Flights were resumed in August 2010, however, until September 2014, only direct charter flights between the two countries were carried out.
