The Mariinsky Theater's opera troupe and symphony orchestra performed in the Concert Hall of the Santa Cecilia National Academy, Rome on Thursday.
The performances of the Mariinsky Theater at the Tchaikovsky Festival as part of the large-scale cultural project "Russian Seasons" will be held from the 11th to 16th January. The first three evenings saw Tchaikovsky's opera Iolanda sung by soloists of the Mariinsky Theater with the participation of the orchestra and choir of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, under the conductorship of Valery Gergiev.
Valery Gergiev and the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater will also present three programs dedicated to the work of Tchaikovsky. The concert program on January 14, 15 and 16 includes six symphonies by Tchaikovsky.
