Double-decker Trains Were Used by Over 3.3 Million Passengers in 2017

Double-decker trains have been used by over 3.3 million passengers in 2017, which is 24% more than during the same period of 2016, as the press service of the Russian Railways (RZD) reported on Thursday.

      “More than 3.3 million passengers (+ 24%, in comparison with 2016) have used double-decker trains of “FPC” JSC (a subsidiary of “Russian Railways” OJSC), including 241.3 thousand people transported by double-decker trains in December (plus 39%/ in comparison with the same period of last year)” - the message said. The following destinations proved to be the most popular: Moscow - Voronezh (34.6% of the total transportation volume), Moscow - St. Petersburg (24.8%) and Moscow-Adler (12.3%).

      In 2017 double-decker trains were launched between Moscow and Kislovodsk, Rostov-on-Don and Adler, whereas the direction Moscow-Voronezh got high-speed double-decker trains, as the press service explained.
