Zavidovo Airpark will be the First Air Tourism Complex in Tver Oblast

It is planned to create an airpark, a multifunctional hotel and a recreation complex on the territory of “Zavidovo” special economic zone (SEZ) in Konakovsky district of Tver Oblast, as the press service of the regional government said.

In particular, the “Zavidovo” airpark will be the first air tourism complex in Tver Oblast. The project implementation is scheduled until 2024 and involves the opening of a helicopter landing site with an air terminal, an airpark with a runway, two hotels for 50 and 70 rooms, as well as five aircraft hangars.

The Tver Region is no doubt the pearl of central Russia. It has a rich, centuries old history. The town is geographically situated between two capital cities, Moscow and St. Pestersburg, which accounts for its rich historical and cultural heritage. Tver is the native city of Russia’s famous traveler and merchant Afanasiy Nikitin, well known for his "Voyage Over Three Seas," which marked the beginning of Russia’s trade relations with India. The region is famous primarily for its unique nature resources. The mighty Volga runs through the region. Lake Seliger attracts tourists by its beauties and wonderful views. The source of the Volga River is located on the territory of the Tver region and is one of its major draws.

How to get there and away

Suburban trains take 2,5 hours to reach Tver from Moscow’s Leningrad station. Departures are approximately hourly. Besides, most trains going from Moscow to St. Petersburg also stop at Tver.

It’s possible to get to Tver by bus leaving from the Yaroslavl station in Moscow. Buses leave every 30 minutes. There is also a daily train from Tver to Novgorod.

In summer, ferries and hydrofoils sail to regional destinations from the river station at the confluence of the Volga and Tvertsa rivers. The only boats to Moscow are occasional cruise vessels.
