Pobeda airline (part of the Aeroflot group), which currently operates daily flights between Rostov-on-Don and Tbilisi, intends to launch regular flights to Kutaisi (the largest city in Western Georgia) from Moscow and St. Petersburg in September.
Currently, five more Russian airlines - Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, Nordavia and Saratov Airlines, operate regular flights between Russia and Georgia, and Georgian national air carrier Georgian Airlines from the Georgian side.
Regular air communication between Russia and Georgia was interrupted in August 2008. Flights were resumed in August 2010, however, until September 2014, only direct charter flights between the two countries were carried out.
