Russian Science Foundation to Allocate 22 Billion Rubles into Grants for Scientists in 2018

More than a quarter of this amount will be received by researchers involved in projects in the fields of biology, agriculture and fundamental medicine.

The Russian Science Foundation (RSF) plans to provide grants of 22 billion rubles in 2018. This was announced by the general director of the fund, Alexander Khlunov.

“Now we support more than 2.5 thousand scientific projects that are over 16 billion rubles worth, and in 2018 we are going to channel about 22 billion rubles to grants”, - he said.

Along with the physics of elementary particles and high energies, the branches so traditional for Russia, life sciences have come to take a significant proportion among the projects funded by the RSF. “Among the projects supported by the RSF those in the field of biology, agriculture, and fundamental medicine make more than 25 percent”, - Mr. Khlynov pointed out.

“We are happy with these changes, because the 21st century will be conditioned by the achievements in life sciences more than the creation of nuclear potential." Those who solve the problem of oncological and neurodegenerative diseases will most likely own the world”, - he added.
