The son of a Russian businessman buys the British FC Portsmouth to invest heavily into new players.
Alexandre Gaydamak, the son of Arkady Gaydamak, is said to have French passport but live and work in London. Recently, he acquired 50% of the stake for 15m pounds and now gained full control of the club for 32m pounds.
The former co-owner Milan Mandaric praised Mr Gaydamak: “I could not have asked for a better scenario than this one and I know that supporters are going to give Alexandre the same wonderful backing and encouragement they gave me. I can do this all safe in the knowledge that I will place Portsmouth Football Club in the control of a person that has massive ambitions, who has fallen in love with the supporters and is someone who will take this on to the next level.
Mr. Mandaric will continue in his role of non-executive Chairman of Portsmouth Football Club.
Portsmouth finished last season only 17th, but Alexandre Gaydamak has already invested 20m pounds into the club, and according to BBC, may spend another 100m pounds for new players.
