The Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg celebrated the 100th anniversary of its opera troupe with a gala concert.
The age-old history of the famous opera company and its stage productions were highlighted at the event.
During the gala concert, outstanding opera singers performed solo parties from the productions that premiered at the dawn of the newly opened theater after the October Revolution.
Opera classics performed fragments from Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, Don Juan by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Golden Cockerel by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. All these productions are included in the repertoire of the theater. Music and singing were accompanied with a video series, consisting of the theatre’s 20th century photographs and posters.
