The winners of the international Opera Awards were announced at the award ceremony in London.
MusicAeterna chorus of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater has become the winner of the international Opera Awards, which is regarded to be an opera “Oscar”.
In total, six teams were announced in the "Chorus" nomination this year. In addition to MusicAeterna, these are the choirs of the Bavarian State Opera, the Berlin "Komishe Opera", the Royal Theater in Madrid, the San Francisco Opera and the Italian "La Fenice" theater.
The MusicAeterna chorus was founded by Theodor Curentsis in Novosibirsk in 2004. Its repertoire embraces works of different styles and eras, and the preference is traditionally given to the authentic performing manner. The art director of the choir is Theodor Curentsis, and the principal choirmaster is Vitaliy Polonsky.
