The Tomsk State University and scientists from the international network INERACT will create a virtual model of the Arctic on the supercomputer "Scythian".
The project is planned to be launched in 2019 and is going to be free for users around the world.
"By means of different visualization methods - computer animation, 3D tours, infographics and other tools - the new English-language resource will acquaint visitors with the Arctic. The users will have an opportunity to learn about the climate changes that occur in the northern macroregion, how they affect the humankind, and what studies are conducted by scientists to understand and predict these processes,”- the university press-service reported.
The author of the idea and the project leader is Nobel prize winner Terry Callaghan, one of the world's most famous researchers of the Arctic and a professor of the Tomsk State University and Sheffield University.
