New Tours on Icebreakers

Two icebreakers based in the Far East may be involved in the organization of tours to Chukotka and Magadan, according to the Temporary Acting Governor of Primorsky Territory Andrei Tarasenko.

“Two icebreakers are ready to carry out tourist programs for the transportation and inspection of ice fields, in summer - in the area of Chukotka, in winter - in the Sea of Okhotsk, off the coast of Magadan Oblast and Kamchatka”, Tarasenko said on Friday at the Fourth Pacific Tourist Forum in Vladivostok. He noted that the proposals are elaborated jointly with “Russian Industrial Port”. According to the Head of the Territory, the tours on icebreakers will be popular. “Today people apply in advance to have a ride on an icebreaker from Murmansk”, Tarasenko added. According to him, local authorities are also working on the restoration of the Far Eastern cruise line.
