Opera Stars Supported FIFA World Cup 2018 in Red Square

The world stars of classical music gave a concert in Moscow in honour of the Football World Cup 2018. 

       Musicians of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra under the conductorship of Valery Gergiev, opera singers Placido Domingo, Juan Diego Flores, Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Ildar Abdrazakov, Aida Garifullina and Albina Shagimuratova, pianists Denis Matsuev and Elisey Mysin made their appearance on the stage in the Red Square.


      “Guests and compatriots, today the team of world stars is performing in favor of the fantastic holiday of sports, friendship and goodness," – Denis Matsuev announced. The concert was opened with his Goal Symphony composed on the basis of the trajectory of victorious goals in the finals of the previous World Cups.


      The audience enjoyed the world renowned music classics by Tchaikovsky, Gounod, Bizet, Donizetti, Puccini, Verdi, Rachmaninoff, Giordano, Glinka and Offenbach.
