A national park "Tersky Bereg" is planned to be created In the Murmansk region.
The Murmansk region plans to transform the existing regional reserve "Varzuga" in the new national park "Terek coast".
This is a necessary measure due to the critical situation with the reduction of stocks of Atlantic salmon in the river Varzuga.
It is assumed that in the National Park (protected natural territories of federal significance), economic activities, including tourism, can be regulated, "due to an integrated approach to the preservation of the unique ecosystem of the river." A workshop on this issue, has already taken place in the regional ministry with participation of the head of the Terek district Gennady Popov and the head of the department of WWF Barents Oleg Sutkaytisa. They supported the idea of creating a national park.
