The Tretyakov Gallery presents an exhibition of outstanding Russian artists of the late 19th - early 20th centuries on the phenomena of Russian history.
Visitors will see paintings by Klavdi Lebedev, Konstantin Makovsky, Alexander Litovchenko, Sergei Ivanov, Andrei Ryabushkin and other artists who illustrated the historical events of Russia. Most of the canvases tell about the upheavals of the 16th – 17th centuries and portray historical personalities who embodied the Russian mentality. Visitors will see plenty of historical details, including traditional costumes, architectural elements, and everyday objects of Russia. In addition to paintings, the exposition includes several sculptures by Mark Antokolsky and Mikhail Mikeshin.
