Fishermen and fans of fish dishes will take part in the first fishing and gastronomic festival titled “Shushpanskaya Pike” in Tambov Oblast, it will be held in the district centre of Staroyuryevo on July 27-28.

       Staroyurevsky district is famous for good catch of fish at the local Shushpanskoe water reservoir. The first day of the “Shushpanskaya Pike” festival when the fishermen will compete will be held here. The “Shushpanskaya Pike” open championship of Staroyuryevsky district will be held in two categories: fishing with spinning (2 people per boat) and fishing with the feeder. Fishing with a leger rig will take place in two stages, each of them will last for 5 hours. Everyone who wishes will be able to fish. On July 28 festive activities will take place in the park of the settlement of Staroyuryevo. A competition of fish broth cooks is planned. Organizers promise that there will be plenty of this broth for every taste. The highlight of the festival will be cooking of fish broth in a large pot with a capacity of more than 220 liters.
