The "Coffee and Milk" Index Fell in Russia by 4.5%

 Russians began to buy less coffee, milk and chocolate.

      The "Coffee and Milk" index fell by 4.5%  in June, as compared to May, and the annual indicator fell by 5.8%, showing the lowest figure for three years, as “Novosti” RIA reported with a reference to a study by the "Romir" holding company. The "Coffee and Milk" index reflects the volume of purchases of coffee, milk, bottled water and chocolate – the products that are not essential goods, as well as the dynamics of their prices.

      During the month the purchases of milk decreased by 6%, those of chocolate - by 4.7%, those of coffee - by 2.9%; Nevertheless, Russians began to buy more bottled water (by 4.3%). At the same time coffee prices fell by 5.9% in June, those of chocolate fell  by 4%, and those of  milk - by 1.1%. Prices for water increased by 1%. Thus, the index fell by 4.1% or 41 percentage points in June, dropping to the  index of 862 percentage points.
