The FIFA World Cup in Russia has led to a sharp increase in sales in various fields of small and medium-sized businesses, according to Inc.Russia quoting the survey by the "Evotor” company.

The strongest effect of the championship has been perceived in the sales of souvenirs with football symbols: these grew 20 times, as compared to the period before the start of the championship. An average amount of 7.5 million roubles was spent on souvenirs per day of the championship: people spent about 1,238 roubles on one purchase. Women’s headbands enjoyed great popularity, the demand for these grew 16 times after the Russia-Spain match. The peak of sales of women’s headbands fell to the eve of the Russia-Croatia match. Besides, the public catering sector also started to makes profits, the turnover of cafes and restaurants in the cities hosting the championship increased by 31%, and the average purchase amount also increased.
