The Bank of Russia has conducted a survey of microlenders that provide funds to small and medium-sized businesses.
According to the survey results, more than 70% of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs take microloans to cover cash shortages.

"The main types of collateral for micro-loans issued to small and medium-sized businesses by microlenders are cars (30-50%, depending on the type of organization) and real estate (30-40%). The share of unsecured microloans of commercial microlenders makes up about 40%, almost all loans have collaterals in non-commercial organizations”, as the message of the press service of the Central Bank said. An average loan size in the sector of small and medium-sized businesses amounted to 820 thousand roubles in 2017; as of the beginning of this year, small and medium businesses accounted for about 24 billion of debts in the total portfolio of microlenders - 21%.
