Seven hotels to be built in Petrozavodsk
30.09.2004 00:00

29 hotels and camping sites with the total capacity of 200 rooms have been built in Karelia this year. Most of the new hotels are country mini-hotels located on the shore of lakes of Karelia, which are very popular among tourists. The building of the hotels has been carried out by means of private investments, the total volume of which has made up RUR 320 mln this year. The amount is twice bigger than that invested four years ago.

Meanwhile the development of tourism infrastructure lags behind the tourist inflow. The total room fund of the Karelia republic amounts to 4 thousand rooms only. Till date there is no a single “star” level hotel in the region. The first three-star hotels will be built in Petrozavodsk, the capital of the republic. All in all seven hotels are to be built on the territory of Karelia.
