An exhibition at the Deposition Church in the Cathedral Square of Moscow will illustrates the 6-century-old history of Russian wooden sculpture!
As you know, monuments of wooden sculpture have been a part of the Russian culture since ancient times. The exposition includes wooden icons, statues of saints, crosses, and other items of church service. The visitors will learn about the development of wooden sculpture art in the 15th – 19th centuries.
The collection is based on unique exhibits, which are historically connected with the Moscow Kremlin and its churches, as well as the monasteries of the Russian North.
