The number of visitors to the “Russian Arctic” National Park (Arkhangelsk Oblast), exceeded one thousand people this tourist season, just like last year, as the press service of the reserve reported. “The visitors were traditionally offered to make landings and cruises at the most attractive places of the archipelagos of Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land (FJL), they got acquainted with the history of the Russian Arctic, its flora and fauna: observed polar bears, Atlantic walruses, Arctic right whales, birds, white whales and seals in natural habitats”, as the report says.
Ten cruises on three routes leading to the National Park have been held this summer, five of them were performed by the icebreaker titled “50 Years of Victory”, another three of them - by the “Sea Spirit” ship making voyages to FJL from Spitsbergen. The “Bremen” ship also came to FJL during the cruise along the Northern Sea Route in August.
